Crock Pot Hot Chocolate
Crock Pot Hot Chocolate is the perfect drink to serve up when doing your holiday entertaining! This easy slow cooker cocoa stays warm the entire party and perfect for a hot chocolate bar or alongside our reader favorite OREO Dirt Cake, Chocolate Crinkle Cookies, or easy Peanut Butter Cookies!
Every year one of my friends hosts a kid’s Christmas PJs party. All the kids wear their Christmas jammies and do a gift exchange, it is a blast and my boys look forward to it every year.
This year she set up a hot chocolate bar, served up in a slow cooker. I thought it was a great idea to share here on the blog because it worked so well for the party. This recipe is perfect for parties because it stays warm the entire time!
Why I love this recipe
This recipe is so easy!
It comes out thick and rich, and oh-so-much better than the instant mixes. It’s not just for parties too, it’s also perfect for cold blustery winter weekends! My family can go through a full batch in an afternoon at home easily!
Ingredients
- semi-sweet chocolate chips
- vanilla extract
- condensed milk
- heavy whipping cream
- milk
Step by step
Simply combine all the ingredients in a slow cooker and cook on low for two hours. After the two hours, set the slow cooker to warm for serving.
Tips for best results
You’ll notice I use only half a can of the condensed milk, most other recipes use a full can and I have tried that but it comes out too sweet for my taste.
I think the end result with half a can of the condensed milk and the semi-sweet chocolate chips come out with just the right balance!
(If you’re worried about wasting the condensed milk, just make a batch of these easy Coconut Macaroons to go along with it, it also uses a partial can of condensed milk!)
Serving suggestions
I serve this recipe with marshmallows of course, but you can also get creative and add in peppermint sticks, whipped cream and sprinkles, coconut…the possibilities are endless!
You can also experiment with using different types of chocolate chips, too. It’s a very easy recipe to have fun with!
