Many years ago I shared a pumpkin apple butter recipe as one of the first recipes I ever posted and I thought nearly 9 years later it was long overdue to post my favorite easy pumpkin butter recipe for you.

Ingredients

  • pure pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling!)
  • granulated sugar
  • apple juice
  • spices – ground ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon

Step by step with video

  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer, stirring often, for 25-30 minutes or until thickened.

Slow Cooker Instructions

You can easily convert this to a slow cooker recipe but mixing all the ingredients in a slow cooker and cooking on low for 2-3 hours or until thickened. Some people prefer the slower method to simmering on the stovetop-either way it’s delicious!

Storage

Store pumpkin butter in an airtight container up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator. You can freeze this pumpkin butter as well up to 3 months in a freezer-safe container (affiliate link).
