Sparkling Strawberry Sangria

This Sparkling Strawberry Sangria is truly one of my favorite entertaining recipes. It’s so light and refreshing and packed with flavor. Pull up a chair and pour yourself a glass!

There is something about that warm weather that makes me want to lighten up not only the food I’m cooking but also my cocktails! And really, does any drink scream summer as much as a beautifully done sangria? I think not.

I get tons of emails asking about these glasses, they are gorgeous and inexpensive, find them here. (affiliate link)

Ingredients

  • Sparkling Rosé Wine – the blush color is perfect for this sangria
  • White Wine – choose your favorite, we’re partial to pinot grigio in this recipe
  • White Rum – this deepens the flavor and adds a kick, we use Bacardi
  • Simple Syrup – adds sweetness that compliments the berries
  • Strawberries – this fruity sangria recipe wouldn’t be complete without a hefty dose of strawberries to enhance the flavor!

Choosing a wine & variations

I prefer to make this sangria with crisp Rosé sparkling wine and a semi-sweet, dry white like Pinot Grigio. You can substitute the rosé with a sparkling white wine if you prefer. You can also switch the sparkling to white and the white wine to rosé, this sangria is great for experimenting or using up what you have on hand!

Prep instructions

This recipe serves eight and it’s important to prep ahead of time for the best taste. You can easily double or triple it when serving a crowd.

To prepare the Sparkling Strawberry Sangria, mix the rum, berries, white wine, and simple syrup at least one hour ahead of time to let the flavors blend. (Be sure to use perfectly ripe strawberries for the best flavor!)

When serving, add the sparkling wine as you serve so that the carbonation stays fresh. When I’m entertaining I usually prep single or double batches of the white wine/rum/strawberry mixture then only add the sparkling wine one batch at a time so the bubbles don’t fade before serving.

Tips for best results

  • Prep the strawberry mixture up to 8 hours in advance and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
  • Allow to soak at least 1 hour before serving for the best taste.
  • To keep the sangria cold when serving, add frozen strawberries to the pitcher!
  • Omit the rum to tone down the alcohol content.
  • Sangria can pack a punch without tasting like it, so be aware when drinking that it’s a strong drink.

      1. Thank you for answering! Love that they’re inexpensive and was ready to order a bunch but ”no international shipping” messed up my plans… Think I need to make that strawberry sangria and get my mind off them glasses… 😉

  1. This is so smooth and delicious. I’ve made it with and without the sprite both are terrific. Now I am going to serve it at our July 4th barbeque as the drink of the day..

  2. I am going to make Strawberry Sangria for our summertime wedding and picnic reception. We are older and do not need all the wedding traps. This will be cool and delicious. I shall tell my friendly produce man I need lots of strawberries. Thank you. I don’t drink alcohol but I think one of these will be nice.
